Two weeks left before Frame-by-Frame + some hot software tips!

Hey Reader!

First off, some animation news!

Well, sort of news... but mostly software recommendations! Regular news headlines will resume next newsletter.

A great new little software — Interval Viewer by Dylan Choonhachat on ArtStation. I've wanted a simple software like this for ages, and we'll be using it for all of our Figure Drawing sessions next fall for our Complete Animation Portfolio Bundle. It is very simple — it references an image folder on your computer, and then it allows it to cycle through the images at your prescribed intervals, so basically you can customize your own personal figure drawing (or any subject) session with your downloaded photo refs!

Also by Dylan Choonhachat is this Folden software. This is another software that you didn't know you needed, but you absolutely do! The pro version (extremely affordable) has a bunch of preset folder layouts that it can create (though you can customize the details) or you can pre-program your own folder layouts for projects yourself. For freelancers, this is a great boon to keep yourselves organized. I suspect the occasional parent out there among our subscribers might also find a great use for this simple but effective folder creator!

What's New in Procreate Dreams 2.0.2 Patch Update video. Perhaps small beans, but I wanted to share some new great features for the ever-wonderful Procreate Dreams, which keeps getting better and better. I also wanted to highlight this update this week since I imagine many of our enrolled students will be using Procreate Dreams in our upcoming Frame-by-Frame summer program!

We're very excited to give you a preview of what is to come with our Frame-by-Frame Summer program! Each week we'll be bringing inspiring samples of animation to wet your appetite for this incredible storytelling medium,

Here are some short snippets of some of the inspiring media we'll be doing deep dives of, and this is only the first 4 weeks!

It's not too late to join!

We will begin our Frame-by-Frame 2D Animation class in almost exactly 2 weeks! If you're interested in enrolling, you must do so by June 30th at midnight.

Aside from analyzing (read: nerding out) some of the best animation examples, we're going to:

  • Make a fun object animation (NOT a bouncing ball phew)
  • Make an incredible whimsical character loop, that may even involve some metamorphosis animation!
  • Make a character "ready-stance" for a game
  • And one final animation that will be determined by our students' progress in the first three.

The goal of this course will be to give you some incredible animation work for your reel, whether you are building your portfolio for College or University, or you're already there and want to make some work for your career reel once completing your program.

Check out more details at our Frame-by-Frame Course!

Since the last time I sent a newsletter, a couple more of our successful student interviews have been posted!

There is just one more interview that will be released for our next newsletter - stay tuned. If you ever lose track of these, we have a brand new part of our website where they will live! Our testimonials page.

In case you missed these last time, I'll share these again of me working through an oil painting. The next painting videos will be posted soon, as I've recorded the next one from start to finish.

Here's a really early stage of a painting:

...and here I am further along, almost at a point of completion:

As always, if you have anything you'd like to ask about in this newsletter, don't hesitate to reply — take care everyone!
